Before signing a contract with an individual California Registry participant, Verification Bodies must also follow the California Registry's policies & process to determine the potential for a conflict of interest.

California Registry verification body recognition for the firms listed below that are not yet accredited is only valid until December 31, 2009. Verification bodies that were formerly approved by the California Registry and are not yet accredited must submit their initial verification opinions in CARROT by December 31, 2009. Subsequent verification activities such as clarifications and revisions to reports may proceed after the end of the year if necessary. The California Registry encourages all verification bodies to enroll in the ANSI and/or ARB accreditation programs and begin updating their accreditation status in order to continue conducting verification activities past the 2009 calendar year.
Consequently, the California Registry does not intend to issue any new request for verification accreditation or for sector-specific accreditations.
ISO 14065 GHG Accreditation Program
ANSI is administering a GHG validation/verification body accreditation program under ISO 14065. ANSI is now accepting new applications. As a part of the accreditation process, applicants must be witnessed by ANSI Assessors at an on-site visit at their offices, and also while performing a verification. Both the California Registry, the Climate Registry and the Reserve have agreed to accept verifications from a verification body participating in the accreditation program as long as they are subsequently accredited. ANSI's website lists accredited verification bodies enrolled in the program and the applicants currently undergoing the accreditation process that members and project developers may select. If however, the applicant verification body is not subsequently accredited, the reporter/member must repeat verification with an accredited body. Accredited verification bodies that are enrolled in the program are denoted with a * below.
