Verification

The California Climate Action Registry has created standardized approaches that define verification processes that promote completeness, comparability, accuracy and transparency of emissions data reported to the Registry. Activities for each specific verification will differ based on the length and complexity of a participant’s Emission Report, but the verification process will include at least the following steps:

 

Case by case evaluation of Conflict of Interest

Scoping and planning a participant’s verification activities

Conducting verification activities

• Identifying emissions sources
• Reviewing methodologies and management systems
• Verifying emission estimates

Verification Report and Verification Opinion

Submission of participant-authorized Verification Opinion and Verification Activities to the Registry.

 

Upon completion of the above steps, the Registry will also review the data before accepting a participants verified Emission Report into its emissions database. This process is repeated every year of an organizations participation in the California Registry.
