Natural Gas T&D

Discussion Paper for Natural Gas Transmission & Distribution

The California Registry is currently working on developing an entity-level protocol for the natural gas transmission & distribution sector. The natural gas transmission and distribution (T&D) reporting and verification protocol will provide entity-wide guidance to natural gas T&D companies for identifying GHG sources, measuring, and calculating emission levels, reporting GHG inventories, and verifying emission reports. The users of this protocol will be interstate and intrastate natural gas transport organizations.

The California Registry has been working closely with its workgroup throughout the protocol development process. The workgroup includes industry representatives, state and federal agency personnel, NGOs, and expert consultants. This group of stakeholders has reviewed and commented on the discussion paper, and guided its transformation into a reporting and verification protocol. A draft of the protocols will be released for public comment during Summer 2009.
