Protocols

Protocols are guides to measure your emissions accurately and consistently. There is a General Reporting Protocol that most organizations use, but the California Registry has also developed industry specific protocols.

When a new protocol is being developed a workgroup is formed to give input on the development, the public is invited to give input and it is a transparent process striving to achieve the greatest level of integrity, effectiveness and accuracy.

To the left is a list with links to protocols developed thus far; works in progress; and protocols slated for the future.

Protocol Revision Process

From time to time, as new scientific and policy information becomes available, the California Registry may wish to amend the Protocols. All versions of the Protocol will be available on the website with the most recent version first. Within each document, the date revised will be listed on the bottom of every page. Please make sure to check back occasionally to ensure that you have the most recent version of the Protocols.
