2012 will be a significant year for the carbon world –the end of the Kyoto compliance period, and the beginning of California’s first year of caps on greenhouse gases. US Congressional legislative initiatives also use 2012 as a benchmark year.

Government leaders share visions of the carbon-constrained world in 2012, highlighting pathways to that point in time, and discuss local and global climate action. Environmental and business thought leaders respond with their respective roadmaps to navigating a carbon-friendly future. This will be followed by responses from the environmental and business industry in an effort to promote common understanding, different perspectives and start a dialogue on the future of global carbon policy.


Afternoon sessions will include today's most significant climate issues and will follow four different streams:

On Day Two, speakers and sessions will explore the implications of the upcoming Presidential elections for U.S. carbon policy, as well as currently proposed federal regulations and policy developments. Sessions will highlight the Western Climate Initiative, provide an international update on International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP), explore GHG projects and financing, and other exciting topics.

The conference will conclude with a choice of afternoon workshops or a fieldtrip to the inspiring "Feeling the Heat - Climate Change" exhibition at the world-renowned Scripps Institution.

Registration rates include conference materials, admittance to applicable free pre-conference activities and all plenary sessions, breakout and workshop sessions. It also includes breakfast and lunch on both days and an evening cocktail reception.
